Writing too much, my brain hurts!

I swear I have written more in the last 3 weeks than I have in the last ten years. Handwriting that is. This is due to going to university for the first time and having more homework than I thought it was possible to have. I have trouble getting my thoughts out onto paper (or screen) and so this is quite an accomplishment for me. In two weeks’ time I have an essay due and that is something in itself as I have never written one before (not even in school - I don’t know how I managed to get away with it). I am writing more than I am typing because for me writing is quicker than typing, I still type with two fingers and have to look at the keyboard, 4hdias is qhae is lolm ljm whart O fo,nrtm,. (That is what it looks like when I don’t).

However, I have found the computer classes easy. I do know the basics and have learned some helpful bits and pieces along the way. There are some students in the class, though, that went straight ahead and started up Solitaire and Pinball on their computers and ignored the lecturer!

Tutors know that I am autistic and one other student does (he accesses services from the DSC and asked why I did as well). I don’t know if I should tell any more people but I think I will end up telling the whole class at once when we have to do a speech on a chosen career path related to the degree we want to study for. I look forward to that (educating people who know little about autism) and also dread it (the “but you don’t seem autistic” comments).

Tomorrow is the university’s Open Day at the main campus and I will go to that, I am looking forward to gathering information about the Psychology courses.
