An Update on Goings On.

Yesterday I went out to lunch with my LAC and a lady from the Autism Association. Sort of felt posh “out to lunch” . I had a chicken, cheese and tomato toasted sandwich and a small botle of Coke.

They wanted to make sure I felt supported after the events of the last few months and I actually feel I do. They said how much of a great person I was and that sort of thing. It made me feel awkward because I am not used to those sorts of comments. I usually just get on with things and no one says anything to me.

I also spoke of how our adult support group would like a central location to meet so we can plan our activities from there and they agreed to phone around and look for a place for us. I am really glad about that. I was also told that Tony Attwood will be coming to Perth. That is kind of big news because I thought he would go to America before he would go to Perth (we are pretty isolated)! I asked that with all their seminars and such, do they ever get an autistic person to do a talk. The answer: very rarely. So I volunteered myself. What was I thinking! I am wondering if what I said about that was taken as an idle comment or something. But really I feel strongly about a whole bunch of people gathering to talk about autism and none of them are autistic!

I also spoke with my employment case manager today and he is going to ring Kmart, I may still have a job to go to there. Which would be good. I still haven’t had my medication sorted out yet, though. I have to wait until the 21st of February to see a psychiatrist. It is hard to wait for things, it seems that everything is on hold for now.

A good thing happened yesterday though. I got my Irlen lenses in the mail. All retinted and everything.

That is so great that you are getting help and support :) and VERY brave of you to speak at the Tony Atwood thing! It does seem strange that there are no other autistic people speaking. Seems to happen a lot.
